Background
Katie graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in economics and Spanish. Her deep understanding of economic principles, coupled with marketing experience gained at Corpus Christi's Economic Development Corporation and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, provide a unique perspective from which to approach client challenges.
Katie's Passion for Places
While Katie will always call Texas home sweet home, her family instilled a love of travel in her at a very young age. After visiting Europe for the first time at age 15, she began to delve into new cultures to gain a deeper understanding of the places she visited. She has traveled extensively through Europe and Latin America, and studied abroad in Bath, England and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Katie loves to indulge her wanderlust and experience new people and places. She will occasionally hop in a car or on a plane on a whim, and has never been disappointed with a place she's visited. She believes that every place in the world has something unique to offer, and feels lucky to be able to translate her passion for places into a career. |

Notable Results
• At the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, Katie examined Corpus Christi’s growth and industry statistics relative to other Texas cities and comparable cities nationwide and discovered that Corpus Christi was a leader in job creation and economic growth. Katie used these quantitative findings, as well as a compilation of testimonials and photographic evidence, to create a presentation illustrating the success of the city’s economic development program. The presentation was used not only to ensure continued funding of the relatively new organization, but also to exhibit Corpus Christi’s strengths to potential new investors in the community.
• At the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Katie played an integral role in the launch of two new niche publications, Indugle and DFW Dog. Katie conducted market research to create a comprehensive lead base for advertisers, targeted recipients in key demographics, and distribution outlets. Katie was also instrumental in the design of marketing programs surrounding the newspaper’s 100 year anniversary celebration.
• In her first couple of months at DCI, Katie coordinated press trips and arranged interviews with targeted industry publications in sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals and biotechnology in the Research Triangle to fashion and design in Puerto Rico. These visits by journalists to client locations have been key in establishing the strength of clients’ target industries in the national media.
