Background

Amalia has more than a decade of experience in travel marketing, and is an active volunteer of the New York Women in Communications Industry (NYWICI). Over the years, she has provided council to St. Lucia Tourism Board; Portuguese Tourism Board; Mystic Places in Southeastern Connecticut; Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitor’s Bureau; and Principality of Monaco Tourism Office.

Her marketing programs for leading hotel brands have increased visitor arrivals for the Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Spa in the Riviera Maya, Mexico; and Royal Palm Hotel & Spa in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador; Gansevoort Hotel Group, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, and Orient-Express Hotels;. In addition, Amalia’s travel trade marketing programs and special events for Ecuador, Chile and Asia Now (a tourism organization comprised of several Asian countries) have directly increased the selling of these destinations and their partner products.

Amalia's Passion for Places

Amalia comes by her “passion for places” quite naturally. When you combine her Greek and Ecuadorian heritage with her educational background – a bachelor of art’s degree in Latin American Studies and Political Science and a minor in Hellenic Studies from New York University – you discover a passionate and adventurous traveler. Being fluent in Spanish, Greek and conversational Portuguese comes in handy in her global explorations.

Notable Results

• For the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, Amalia managed consumer and trade marketing communication strategy and implementation, yielding millions of dollars worth of publicity with a cost-effective program and boosting visitor arrivals within one year.

•By building product awareness and aggressively placing the LAN Airlines name back into key travel agencies with rejuvenated product offerings, Amalia had assisted in increasing sales by $500,000 within one year. She also played a pivotal role in landing a $1.9 million account with Citigroup, coinciding with the growth of their Latin American division. Her strategic action plans aided in capturing corporate market share from American Airlines, Continental, Delta and United, and helped establish LAN as a premier air carrier• To promote Denver's successful $1.67 billion Transportation Expansion Project and the redevelopment of the city's former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Erin successfully placed two separate articles in the real estate section of The Wall Street Journal.

• Amalia championed all marketing and communications efforts for the highly-visible grand opening of the Royal Palm Resort Hotel in Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. In doing so, she helped reverse previous negative exposure (related to misreporting of non-compliance of Galapagos National Park rules) by directing her client to invite the Ministry of Environment to the opening to personally view the hotel’s construction plans. The presence of high-profile political attendees, including the President of Ecuador and his cabinet, also resulted in positive local political and editorial endorsements for the property. International media coverage boosted trade interest in selling the product throughout North America.
